The Outdoor Show

Trek is appearing for the first time at the Outdoor Show in the NEC, Birmingham, from the 14th – 16th March 2008. While showcasing a range of models from the mountain bike lines and including women’s specific design (WSD) bikes, Trek has teamed up with Health and Fitness magazine to promote the Trek Fitness Challenge.

At the show you’ll find a test track where Trek will be letting you try out some of the latest mountain bikes, and two static bikes on interactive trainers. These will allow you to try cycling a mile over pretty average terrain, just see how easy a mile really is and how many calories you’ll burn by riding it. Take that into the real world over a longer period of time and you can see both the environmental and health benefits. To persuade you to have a go, Trek will be running a Prize Draw Competition in which a Trek bike is first prize. Click below for more info on The Outdoor Show

The Trek Fitness Challenge

This Challenge is all about getting women cycling. Whatever your reason for wanting to get fit, be it weight loss, general health or training for a particular event, cycling is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways of becoming, and staying, healthy.

Trek is looking for 4 women who will be willing to partake in the Trek Fitness Challenge that culminates in an endurance event that is both fun and testing, the Bontrager Twentyfour12.

The Bontrager Twentyfour12 is an endurance race with the 24 hour and 12 hour races run concurrently, giving the 12hour participants an opportunity to relax and watch the 24hour racers.

With all the media these days running stories about the environment and health issues, it puts cycling on the front line as one of the best hopes for a solution. Cycling is a low impact, cardiovascular workout that can actually get you to work too. How would you feel doing push ups on the bus as an alternative?

Sign up to the Trek newsletters and get entered for the chance to win a full nutrition and exercise consultation with Lynn Clay, one of the country’s leading nutritionalists and regular contributor to sheSpoke. This normally carries a £200 fee. Also included is a pair of tickets to the Outdoor Show.
